"Strong is the new sexy"
It may come as a surprise to you...NOOOT...:P that I was never a ballerina! :) I was always built different, built tough and strong, not dainty and lovely like the girls on TV (even in the 80s). As a young girl and a teenager, that bothered me! A lot. Then as an adult, I grew to understand that I actually like being strong much more and learned to embrace the power, rather than grieve over what I don't look like.
When I was in my early 30s I then discovered "Strongman" as a sport, and my life was changed. Finally a sport where being built strong, actually was a benefit!
"Strong is the new sexy" is based on the picture you see here, which used to be my profile picture for a looooong time, and which got me through the times when I fell back into thought patterns of "why can't I be skinny?"
So here we go! Life story....and a new colourway to match :)
Each skein of yarn is hand dyed with professional acid dyes and treated with wool care after, for a perfect finish. As each batch is dyed by hand, there can be slight colour variations between each batch, so if you wish to purchase more than one skein for your knitting or crochet project, or require a different base, please get in touch and I will ensure each skein is from the same batch, and/or on the base required.
The extrafine merino wool makes this yarn luxuriously soft and bouncy for next to skin comfort. A little nylon is added for extra durabilty.
The main factor determining the quality of merino wool is its softness which depends upon the fineness of the fibres. We use extrafine merino (19.5 microns) which is some of the finest commercially available for hand dyers. This results in a supersoft yarn that feels gentle against the skin.
This yarn is so versatile and can be used for any next to skin project (scarves, jumpers etc) as well as items where a little more durability is required such as socks and gloves.
Please also note that while we do our best to accurately capture the colour of the yarn in the picture, the colours may slightly differ due to variations in monitors and screens. It is recommended to handwash your yarn/ finished object and lay flat to dry.
